Hello guys, it’s very easy to take admission in any college
in Canada but the real problem starts when you arrive and start taking classes.
There are lot of things that are different here, in Canadian colleges, which makes it
tough, but if you know about it then it is one of the easiest things. Several
things that needs to be remember are:
1) Plagiarism: It is presenting someone else’s
ides or work as your own with or without their consent, by incorporating into
their work without full acknowledgement. This could be material copied word to
word from journals, books, internet sites, professor’s course notes, etc. It
could be material that is paraphrased but closely resembles the original
source. It could be the work of a fellow student, for example, an answer on a
quiz, data for a report, a paper or assignment completed by another student. It
might be a paper purchased through one of the many available sources. Plagiarism
does not refer to words alone- it can also refer to copying images, graphs,
tables, and ideas. “Presentation” is not limited to written work. It also
includes oral presentations, computer, assignment and artistic work. If you
translate the work of another person into French or English and do not cite the
source, this is also plagiarism.
2) Procrastination: It is the practice of
carrying out less urgent tasks in preference to more urgent ones, or doing more
pleasurable things in place of less pleasurable ones, and thus putting off
impending tasks to a later time, sometimes to the “last minute” before the
deadline.
3) Attendance: It is one of the main things to
maintain. It’s not that, you get failed just because miss classes, you are also
losing the various in-class activities, group work and course. Even for getting
good grades, attending classes is very important.
Effect of bad grades on International students affect many other things of their life:
·
If you want to work-off campus then a SIN(
social insurance number) is required, which is granted only, if you are passing
every subject of the course.
·
If by any reason, you get failed, then you have
to retake that subject, which costs you around 1400$. This amount is triple as
the amount to be paid by domestic student and it is really hard to pay that
much money.
·
In future, if you are planning to get PR, then
also you need to be working in the field of study, which needs good grades.
So, maintaining
good grades is very important
